There seem to be quite a few of you lately, so I thought I’d pop in and say hi 😙😙 I’m Ash, an artist working from my little studio in the Adelaide Hills, where most days are spent surrounded by colour, paint, texture and a very messy floor.

These two works are the last larger pieces remaining from my latest drop with @greenhouseinteriors . It’s always a little bittersweet seeing a body of work find its way into new homes, but I’m so grateful for the response to this collection 🌞✨

And to see how deeply they resonated with you all…finding their homes within hours of the launch, was something I’ll never forget. 🥹🤍

There is something so special about creating from the heart, watching a collection come together piece by piece, and then seeing it become part of your homes.

I cannot WAIT to get back into the studio and start creating again. My head is already so full of colour, ideas and new things I want to explore. 🎨🌿✨

A Moment in Bloom ✨🤎

This piece came together slowly. It changed a lot while I was painting it..

I love that it feels both soft and bold at the same time. There are so many layers, little moments and colours that reveal themselves the longer you sit with it 🌈

I built it up over many layers, allowing colours to emerge, disappear and find their place. The photographs can never quite capture the texture, but in person every brushstroke catches the light differently. It’s the kind of artwork that keeps giving…you’ll notice something new every time you walk past ✨

A little story I’ve never shared before…

It was 2009. MySpace was on the way out, so I created a Facebook account. Within minutes, I had my very first friend request.

Nick van Riet.

The name sounded familiar. He used to come into the shop where I worked, @midwesttrader His surname caught my eye because my family is Dutch too, so I ran into the living room and told Mum I’d had a friend request from someone called Nick van Riet.

Without missing a beat, she looked at me and said, “You’re going to marry him.”

I thought she was completely mad. 😂

Back then, MSN was life. We’d spend hours talking, sometimes six hours straight…sharing music and getting to know each other.

Eight years later, we got married.

Well played, Mum.

Seventeen years on, we’ve shared a lifetime of adventures, laughter and incredible memories. We’ve also walked through heartbreak, grief and loss. As difficult as those seasons have been, they’ve created a bond that only the two of us could truly understand.

Then we became parents.

Watching Nick become Goldie’s dad has been one of the greatest privileges of my life. The moment she was born, our obstetrician asked if he’d like to stay with me or go with Marigold… and before she’d even finished the question, he was already out the door following our little girl. 😂

It tells you everything you need to know about the kind of father he is.

I feel so lucky that I found my person at 19. The one I get to do this beautiful, messy, extraordinary life with.

Here’s to us, and to this next chapter with our little family of three.

There’s a story behind this painting that I’ve never really shared before 🌙🌻🤎🙏🏼

A Moment In Bloom was created during one of the strangest seasons of my life. After the overwhelming joy of my last collection selling out so quickly with @greenhouseinteriors , life shifted in a way I never expected. Nick and I were faced with making the incredibly difficult decision that we couldn’t keep walking the road of more pregnancies and more heartbreak. It was a season of letting go, of healing, and of finding our footing again.

Through it all, my studio became my little haven.

Every brushstroke gave me somewhere to place my thoughts when they felt too heavy to carry. These paintings became moments of quiet amongst uncertainty…small reminders that beauty still finds its way through even the hardest seasons.

I had set myself the goal of finishing this collection before surgery, determined that recovery wouldn’t stop me from sharing these works with the world. I even packed my laptop for the hospital so I could edit photographs between rests, and a week after surgery I was creating content, excitedly preparing for launch.

Looking back, I probably pushed myself harder than I should have 🫣 but I loved these works so much, and I couldn’t wait for you to see them.

Then launch night arrived.

Within 20 minutes, these seven originals had already begun finding their forever homes. It was one of those moments I’ll never forget. After months of pouring everything I had into this collection, seeing such an immediate connection felt incredibly special.

A Moment In Bloom speaks to exactly that feeling for me…that even after seasons of loss, uncertainty and waiting, there are still moments when life gently unfolds into something beautiful.

Thank you for seeing these works. Thank you for welcoming them into your homes. And thank you for reminding me why I keep creating. 🤎

I found myself reaching for colour, layering paint, and returning to the Australian landscape 🦘🦘🦘 the place that has always made me feel grounded.

Each painting became a small reminder that beauty can still exist alongside grief, that light has a way of finding its way back in, and that creating can be its own kind of healing.

This one almost never made it out of the studio.

I still remember finishing the first layer and feeling completely disconnected from it…flat, frustrated and convinced I’d missed something. It’s funny now looking back at these photos because “Where Colour Finds Ground” ended up becoming one of the most loved works from the entire collection.

A reminder that sometimes artworks need time. More layers. More listening. More trust in the process before they reveal themselves 🌙

I still can’t quite believe how quickly this collection found homes. Feeling incredibly grateful for every bit of support and for the beautiful collectors connecting with these works 🌙

I still can’t quite believe how quickly this collection found homes. Feeling incredibly grateful for every bit of support and for the beautiful collectors connecting with these works 🌙

Another week in the studio, woven in with all the bits of life in between 🌙 🤎
More Australian landscape inspiration (forever feeling lucky to live in such a beautiful part of the world) 🌿🪶🐨🦘 a visit to our favourite wildlife park, and one very sleep deprived mum navigating the mystery of a toddler waking multiple times a night 🫠

But despite the exhaustion, this week has felt incredibly special. An almost sold out collection with @greenhouseinteriors absolutely called for champagne 🥂✨ Feeling very grateful, very inspired, and a little bit magical.

Under Eucalypt Light 🌿

One of only three artworks remaining from my collection Where Colour Finds Ground with @greenhouseinteriors 🤎 The larger works from the collection have all found homes in less than two weeks, which still feels so surreal.

This piece was inspired by the beautiful eucalyptus trees on our property in the Adelaide Hills 🦘🐨🌿🪶sitting beneath them in summer and watching the light filter softly through the leaves overhead. Layers of texture move through the surface like earth and bark, grounding the work in the landscape that shaped it.

There’s something quiet and nostalgic about this one for me.
