Meet Ashlea
Art has always been at the core of who I am. Ever since I can remember, it’s been an integral part of my life — a language I’ve spoken since childhood. I was born and raised in the Adelaide Hills of South Australia, but some of my most formative creative years were spent in my grandmother’s art studio in London. Creativity runs deep in my family; it’s truly in our blood. I was lucky to be raised by people who encouraged me to draw, paint, and explore self-expression freely, which led me to pursue a career in art from a young age.
Today, I’m a full-time artist known for creating work that is bold, textural, and bursting with life and colour. I’ve often been called a colourist — a title I hold close — because I love pushing the boundaries of colour and layering rich textures that bring a tactile energy to my work. My pieces are abstract, powerful, and vibrant, designed to evoke emotion and invite connection. I’m endlessly inspired by the alternative and unorthodox — by following your own offbeat path — and I think that rebellious energy finds its way into everything I create.
Outside the studio, I’m incredibly grateful to share my life with my beautiful family: my husband Nick, our daughter Marigold, and our beloved labradoodle, Claude. They are my greatest joy and inspiration.
